Who can apply?
The competition is open to individuals and teams from or based in the MENASA region. This includes architects, urban designers, landscape architects, artists, creatives, and interdisciplinary collectives working with public space. Emerging professionals and students may apply if endorsed by a mentor or institution.
Can I submit more than one proposal?
Yes. Applicants are welcome to submit multiple proposals. Each submission must be complete and submitted separately.
What kinds of installations are eligible?
The competition welcomes proposals for functional, site-specific installations that respond to the urban context of Doha. Categories include:
- Outdoor furniture
- Playgrounds
- Educational spaces for children
- Open-air library or co-working areas
- Community gardens
- Outdoor event spaces
Where will the selected proposals be implemented?
Installations may be placed in various locations across Doha, including:
- Heritage and historical sites
- Museums’ outdoor spaces
- Parks and green spaces
- Waterfronts
- Traditional markets (souqs)
- Business districts
- Metro station surroundings
- Developed urban spaces
What do I need to submit?
Each proposal must include:
- One A2 vertical panel with visual material (drawings, renderings, diagrams)
- A written description (max. 1000 words) outlining the concept, sustainability strategy, and material considerations
- Team or individual bios and contact details
- Optional supporting materials (letters of support, engineering input, video links, etc.)
- All documents must be submitted as PDF files (max. 10MB each, 300 dpi) and labeled clearly
What language should I use?
Submissions are accepted in Arabic or English.
What is the prize?
Each selected designer will receive:
- A design prize of 25,000 QAR
- A production budget of up to 120,000 QAR (based on project requirements and subject to review)
Is it guaranteed that my proposal will be built?
Selection does not guarantee implementation. Selected proposals will undergo a development phase with Design Doha to assess feasibility, site integration, and production capacity. Realization is subject to these outcomes.
Will I receive support during the production phase?
Yes. Selected designers will work in close coordination with the Design Doha team and production partners. Travel and accommodation support may be provided for site visits and production development.
Who retains the intellectual property of the design?
Designers retain ownership of their work. By participating, you grant Qatar Museums the right to exhibit, publish, and promote the proposal with full credit. If selected for production, a separate agreement may be established regarding reproduction rights.
What are the key dates?
- Submission deadline: 26 July 2025
- Shortlisting: August 2025

- Production and installation: November 2025 – April 2026
